PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device and an image recognition processing method for further reducing the processing load of recognition processing. SOLUTION: This image recognition device estimates a recognition region where the desired object is located in the photographic image in the periphery of the vehicle to be input afterwards based on the information for specifying the moving state of the vehicle (S106), and performs image recognition processing by using the estimated recognition region as the object of retrieval (S112) while acquiring information for specifying the moving state of a vehicle from an onboard sensor such as a speed sensor 20, a steering angle sensor 21 and a yaw rate sensor 22 or a navigation device 23 (S102), and estimating the relative locations of a vehicle and a desired object from the location and size of the desired object included in the photographic image of the onboard camera 10.
