PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new AGE (advanced glycation end product) formation inhibitor having excellent inhibitory actions on AGE production and useful as a prophylactic and/or a therapeutic agent for glomerular diseases, particularly as a medicine for prophylaxis and/or therapy of diabetic nephropathy. SOLUTION: The AGE formation inhibitor comprises a phenylpropeneamide derivative represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1represents an alkylthio group), a salt thereof or a solvate thereof as an active ingredient.
