PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head block, which can be handled in a more efficient, more safe and less cumbersome way. SOLUTION: The hoist frame or head block of a container crane comprises: a frame structure in which two pairs of cable pulleys are installed at a distance in the longitudinal direction; a connection means for connecting a secondary hoist frame or a spreader to the frame structure; a drive mechanism for displacing the pairs of cable pulleys between the distance of the mutual stationary positions smaller in the lateral direction of the frame structure and the distance of the mutual stationary positions larger in the lateral direction; and a stationary position stabilization means for stabilizing the stationary positions of the pairs of pulleys. When the drive mechanism is operated, and the pairs of cable pulleys are displaced between the minimum or maximum mutual distance and the distance of the mutual smaller or larger stationary positions, the stationary position stabilization means is started.
