Device for the preparation a frothy liquid for human consumption, the device comprising: a jet forming nozzle (11) for forming a jet (51) of liquid, which jet forming nozzle is connectable to liquid supply means, which liquid supply means are adapted to supply liquid to the jet forming nozzle, an air inlet (15) for supplying air to the liquid in order to allow froth to be formed, a discharge passage (14) for discharging frothed liquid from the device. The device further comprises a collision chamber (12) and a flow deflecting member (20), which flow deflecting member has an inlet (21), an outlet (23) and a channel (22) which extends between the inlet and the outlet. The collision chamber is arranged between the jet forming nozzle and the inlet of the flow deflecting member, such that the jet of liquid from the jet forming nozzle traverses the collision chamber and enters the inlet of the flow deflecting member. The outlet is arranged in communication with the collision chamber such that in use the liquid jet emerging from the outlet of the flow deflecting member collides with the traversing jet between the jet forming nozzle and the inlet of the flow deflecting member. The air inlet is in communication with the collision chamber, so that in use the collision causes, air to be mixed with the liquid jet emerging from the outlet of the flow deflecting member, thereby generating a frothed liquid flow. The discharge passage is connected to the collision chamber such that the frothed liquid flow is received by said discharge passage. |
