The invention relates to a button cell (1) comprising a housing that has a cell cup (3), a cell cover (4) and a seal (9), which seals the cell cup (3) and the cell cover (4) in relation to one another, the exterior of the housing having an electrically conductive coating and/or a non-electrically conductive coating (2). The electrically conductive coating comprises at least one metal that is more precious than nickel and/or at least one conductive compound. The invention also relates to the use of an electrically non-conductive coating material as an anti-corrosion agent for button cells and to a method for producing a corrosion-resistant button cell. Said method is characterised in that at least one electrically non-conductive coating material is applied to the exterior of the button cell housing.
