The method involves indicating ground characteristic points (P1-P4) on a calibration image. Characteristic points visible on a current image are selected by triangulation on the points of the calibration image. Zoom and perspective effect suitable for adjustment of a camera (CAM) are found on the selected points, such that a trace of a virtual line on the current image appears with the same perspective and/or the same zoom as ground. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an installation for implementing a virtual graphical object tracing method (B) a computer program product comprising instructions for implementing a virtual graphical object tracing method.
