<p>A communication network (100) is the communication network including nodes (#1 to #4). The communication network (100) provides a dispersion compensated design of the nodes (#2 to #4) using the node (#1) as a starting point like a routing line (110). The node (#1) has a variable dispersion compensator which performs dispersion compensation for optical signals getting through it by a variable compensation in amount. Each of the nodes (#2 to #4) has a fixed dispersion compensator which is selected by regarding a residual dispersion amount of the optical signals getting through the node (#1) as a reference residual dispersion amount.</p>
