The system has optical character recognition (OCR) modules (28), whose dial recording is read out by an optical character recognition. The modules are communicatively connected with an associated remote readable electric meter (18) by a local data channel (30). A communication device (20) e.g. mobile radio device, of the electric meter is designed in such a manner that it sends data sent by the modules over the local data channel to a reading position (33) of a supplier via a supplier data channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for electronic remote reading out of consumption data.
