<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal conversion device and an image display device that make it possible to achieve the appropriate expansion of the color reproduction range of an image. <P>SOLUTION: The image signal conversion device includes a control section 130 configured to generate a red output signal R<SB>out</SB>, a green output signal G<SB>out</SB>, a blue output signal B<SB>out</SB>, and a yellow output signal Ye<SB>out</SB>, in accordance with a red input signal R<SB>in</SB>corresponding to a red light component R, a green input signal G<SB>in</SB>corresponding to a green light component G and a blue input signal B<SB>in</SB>corresponding to a blue light component B. A yellow light component Ye is light enabling a color outside the range of a color reproducible by the RGB color to be reproduced.
