<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supply pump control device for determining the characteristics of each supply pump between a control current and a discharge amount while improving the actual pressure controllability of a common rail by changing the characteristics in accordance with the determination. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU determines that the discharge characteristics of the supply pump are great (S104) during changing target rail pressure Pf on the common rail (S102) when overshoot exceeding an upper limit value Nmax occurs in actual rail pressure NPc (S103), and changes a calculation module into a great-side set value to set the control current to be output from the supply pump having a required discharge amount (S105).
