PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor driving unit and a motor drive control method which rotate a motor without fail. SOLUTION: The motor driving unit includes a power supply 3 that supplies a power voltage to the motor M, and a capacitor C that accumulates back electromotive force generated in a coil of the motor M. With the motor driving unit, the following control is carried out. A monitor 2 detects back electromotive force generated in the coil of the motor M to determine the presence/absence of the rotation of the motor M. When a determination is made that the motor M is not rotating, electric charges supplied from the power supply 3 are accumulated in the capacitor C, and then charges accumulated in the capacitor C are superposed on the power voltage supplied from the power supply 3 to drive the motor M.
