PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low cost method for preparing a semipermeable composite membrane having an excellent stain resistance and particularly an excellent microbial contamination resistance, and a semipermeable composite membrane prepared by the method. SOLUTION: The method for preparing a semipermeable composite membrane comprises the process of forming a skin layer comprising a polyamide resin prepared by causing a polyfunctional amine component and a polyfunctional acid halide component to react with each other on the surface of a porous support, the process of forming a polymer layer A comprising a silver salt compound directly over the skin layer or via another layer, and the process of precipitating metallic silver within the polymer layer A and/or on the surface thereof by reducing the silver salt compound.
