PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dried and powdered material which absorbs carbon dioxide by utilizing the photosynthetic effect by near-infrared light of the chlorophyll d included in genus Acaryochloris being one of marine cyanobacteria (also called blue-green algae) of oxygen-generating phototroph. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a carbon dioxide-absorbing material comprising genus Acaryochloris which is a dried, powdered marine cyanobacterium having a pH value in the slightly alkali side. The chlorophyll d included in genus Acaryochloris performs photosynthesis characteristically with near-infrared light (at the wavelength of 700 nm or more). Accordingly, genus Acaryochloris releases oxygen by photosynthesis at the site which visible light does not reach, discharges carbon dioxide immobilized by Calvin-Benson cycle as an organic matter such as sugar or the like, and also proliferates. Therefore, the above genus contributes to carbon dioxide reduction as the material directly absorbing carbon dioxide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
