PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet stacking device capable of keeping a high operation rate, by efficiently stacking sheets of various sizes, while realizing a compact device, by efficiently using a space in the device. SOLUTION: When stacking the sheet of a large size, the sheet is stacked over a plurality of trays by operating the plurality of trays as one tray, and the sheet is stacked by using the one tray when stacking the sheet of a small size. When the sheet cannot be stacked since a partial stacker tray is taken out among a plurality of stacker trays, a guide message is outputted so as to install the stacker tray. Careless device stopping such as the sheet cannot be stacked since the stacker tray is taken out, is prevented by outputting such a guide message. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
