PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carton of a top open type which facilitates an operation for opening an opening part and erecting it even though it is possible to make it the same in size as an ordinary seal type paper carton. SOLUTION: Tongue pieces 20 whose tip parts have shapes projecting behind a bending lineαand engaging on the folding line between a top face panel 14 and side face panels 19 are formed on both sides of the bending lineαby incision linesβreaching respective left and right end parts of the bending lineαfrom left and right breaking lines L<SB>2</SB>forming the opening part. When the opening part is opened by using the bending lineαas a hinge, while a part of the bending lineαof the top face panel 14 is gradually taken up, the tips of the tongue pieces 20 come into contact with the exposed upper end edges of the side face panels and slide, and when the opening part erects, the tongue pieces are hooked on the exposed upper end edges of the side face panels by the movement to be lowered of the top face panel caused by the repulsive action of the paper.
