<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer type fuel cell which is so excellent in durability that it can maintain low contact resistance over a long period and maintain excellent electric properties even if the frequency of a starting stop is increased, and to provide an austenitic stainless steel sheet suitably used as its separator. <P>SOLUTION: The stainless steel for the separator has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.03% C, ≤3% Si, ≤3% Mn, 16 to 30% Cr, 8 to 40% Ni and ≤0.4% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, wherein a Q value calculated by Q=[Cr]+[Si]+[Ti]+[V]+1.5([Zr]+[Nb]+[Mo])+0.5[W]-0.1([Ni]+[Mn])-20([C]+[Ni]) using the content of the respective elements exceeds 18, and the stainless steel has structure where the area ratio of a σ phase exposed to the surface is ≥1%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
