<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide genes encoding flavonoid 3'-hydroxylases which effectively control the production of 3'-hydroxylated anthocyanin in plant. <P>SOLUTION: This invention provides the gene encoding flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase and enables the use thereof for manipulation of the pigmentation in plants, further the adjustment of individual anthocyanin composition and the modification of the relative level between flavonol and anthocyanin also are enabled.
