PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder in which the height of an air suction conveyor belt is easily set and a separation effect by blowing air onto a paper bundle upper layer part is enhanced. SOLUTION: A paper bundle 7 is placed on a paper feed base 8. A part of the front end of the paper bundle 7 is held by a hook 3. Paper sheets are separated and floated one by one by blowing air from the side of the paper bundle 7 in the paper feeding direction to the upper part of the paper bundle 7 by an air blowout means 1. The paper sheet is sucked to a belt surface by the air suction conveyor belt 2 formed of a suction chamber 5, a pulley 6, and the belt 4 above the paper bundle 7. The suction surface of the air suction conveyor belt 2 of the paper feeder for conveying in the paper feeding direction is tilted diagonally downward. The blowing of the air is directed also to the diagonal rear side. A side guide 9 is installed on the side surface of the paper bundle opposite to the side surface thereof from which air is blown.
