The viewing window of an electron microscope has an outer peripheral region sealed to the electron microscope and an inner luminescent-coated region of thickness less than the outer region. The inner region may have a spherical section and a central region, also spherical, of smaller radius. The window is arranged transverse to the electron beam, which strikes its central region. The oil immersion objective of an optical microscope may be mounted adjacent to the window, and thus close to the fluorescent screen.</p> |
