The method involves coating an assembled vehicle body with a lacquer layer and hardening the coated vehicle body. A free-flowing, thermally hardenable mass is introduced in some of segments of a hollow space. The vehicle body is coated with another lacquer layer and the coated vehicle body is hardened in a lacquer furnace with a temperature in the range of 100 to 200 degree Celsius. The thermally hardenable mass is hardened, where the segments of the hollow space filled with the mass is reinforced.
