PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus adjusting device capable of selecting a state of high focusing accuracy. SOLUTION: The focus adjusting device includes: a detecting means 12 detecting a focus evaluation value regarding a contrast value of an image by a focusing lens 21, in association with a focus adjusting position P of an image forming optical system; a computing means 12 obtaining the focus adjusting position where the focus evaluation value is maximum, using a different reference; a display means 15 making a focusing display when the image forming optical system is located in the focus adjusting position where the focus evaluation value is maximum; and a control means 12 for changing the focusing display according to the reference.
