PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless relay apparatus in which bit errors caused by wireless relay are reduced and communication quality is prevented from deteriorating, when a high-speed information channel is deleted in the wireless relay apparatus, and to provide a control method for the wireless relay apparatus. SOLUTION: In the wireless relay apparatus, an uplink reception signal is temporarily decoded, its bit error is corrected by error correction processing, and the reception signal is then re-encoded and relayed so that uplink bit error is prevented from being contained in a downlink.
