A method and computer program are provided for managing and operating a dental practice. The dental practice includes a computer system having an application server and a database. The method and computer program include inputting patient data via a web browser into the application server, encoding the one or more operations using a non¬ proprietary format, storing the patient data and the encoded one or more operations in the database, and displaying to a user the patient data in the web browser. The patient data includes one or more operations.
