Titanium dioxide production involves digesting titanium containing raw material with sulfuric acid to form an unreduced titanium (IV) and iron (III) containing digestion solution. A subsequent reduction is carried out for developing a desired degree of reduction in a digestion solution mixture, where the digestion solution is over reduced such that both the iron (III) and titanium (IV) are partially reduced. The over reduced digestion solution and unreduced solution is admixed in a ratio such that desired degree of reduction is adjusted in the digestion solution thus formed. An INDEPENDNET CLAIM is included for a device for producing titanium dioxide by sulfate method, which comprises a reduction reactor, which is attached with a continuously operable fixed bed reactor.
