An automobile compartment (13) has an octagonal shape constituted to include side sills (14) extending in the longitudinal direction of the body, a dashboard lower cross-member (22) and a middle cross-member (24) extending in the width direction of the body, and four inclined members (30b and 38), so that the compartment (13) can retain sufficient rigidities against the collision loads in the longitudinal and width directions of the body thereby to minimize its deformation. In front of the compartment (13), moreover, front side frames (12) and a front bumper beam (21) constitute a U-shaped frame curved in the U-letter shape in the longitudinal directions of the body, so that the collision loads containing an offset collision in the longitudinal directions of the body can be effectively absorbed by the collapse of the highly rigid U-shaped frame, thereby to prevent the deformation of the compartment (13) more effectively.
