A portable terminal and a method for generating multimedia contents in the terminal are provided to manufacture the multimedia contents by using displayed images and played music during a video call. A portable terminal comprises the followings: a camera module(121) for photographing an image; a wireless communication unit(110) for transmitting/receiving data including the photographed image; a sound output module(152) for outputting the reproduced music; a display module(151) for displaying the first received image and the second transmitted image; a manipulation part(130) for inputting a key signal for generating a music video; a storage unit(160) for storing the data; and a controller(180) which generates a specific data file by storing at least one of the first and second images together with the reproduced music, in case the music video generating key inputted during a video call.
