PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display element capable of displaying three kinds of colors with one and excelling in reflectance and contrast.

SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display element uses an electrophoretic fluid containing three kinds of dispersible particles with different optical properties and charging properties in a solvent, the first dispersible particles being uncharged, the second dispersible particles being positively-charged electrophoretic particles and the third dispersible particles being negatively-charged electrophoretic particles.
