PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit capable of authenticating a user by simple operation. SOLUTION: There is an execution button for determining operation input and instructing operation execution at an operation section for setting the operation of an image processing unit body, and the execution button functions as a final operation button for each execution unit of processing and composes one portion of a user authentication means, thus performing setting input, such as the setting of the number of copies and that of scaling to the image processing unit without authenticating the user before starting to utilize the image processing unit. When the execution button is pressed down, a fingerprint is authenticated by a CCD image pickup device of the execution button and only the authenticated user can start a copy operation.
