PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging member having excellent characteristic and suitable for high image quality, colorization and long life. SOLUTION: An elastic layer of the charging member having an elastic layer on a conductive core shaft is formed by bridge formation of a rubber composition containing a polyether copolymer, acrylonitrile butadiene rubber and perchloric acid quarternary ammonium salt. The polyether copolymer includes a unit originating from ethyleneoxide from 80 mol% to 89 mol%, both inclusive, a unit originating from alkylene oxide (except ethyleneoxide) from 1 mol% to 9 mol%, both inclusive, and a unit originating from an allyl glycidyl ether from 10 mol% to 19 mol%, both inclusive.
