PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier gain clamping adapter device that clamps the gain of an existent optical amplifier on an "injection basis". SOLUTION: Signal light input to a first optical port 101 and gain clamp light generated by a gain clamp light source 107 are multiplexed by a WDM coupler 102 for multiplexing, and the resultant is output from a second optical port 103 and input to the existent optical amplifier 200. An optical signal output from the existent amplifier 200 is input to a third optical port 104, and a WDM coupler 105 for demultiplexing demultiplexes the signal light toward a fourth light port 106 and the gain clamp light toward a gain clamp optical terminator 108.
