PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which contains natural rubber compounded therein, has the same low loss property as that of silica, and has a Mooney viscosity at a level equivalent to that of a rubber composition compounded with single carbon black, and to provide a tire using the rubber composition for a tread. SOLUTION: This rubber composition is characterized by comprising 100 pts.mass of a rubber component containing the natural rubber as a base polymer, 20 to 50 pts.mass of highly reinforcing carbon black, and 10 to 40 pts.mass of a non-reinforcing carbon black. The nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of the highly reinforcing carbon black is preferably≥60 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of the non-reinforcing carbon black is preferably 10 to 50 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The tire is characterized by using the rubber composition for the tread.
