PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for inactivating hepatitis C virus particles essential to preparation of a vaccine for hepatitis C virus. SOLUTION: A solution containing the hepatitis C virus particles is irradiated with UV-C to thereby degrade an RNA of the hepatitis C virus. As a result, the infectivity of the hepatitis C virus can be lost while suppressing an influence on the particle structure of the virus.
