A heat exchanger is disclosed for the exhaust gas line of a motor vehicle including at least one exchanger tube that is formed separately and disposed in a closed housing formed separately, a coolant flowing through the housing and around the outside of the exchanger tube. An inlet and/or an outlet of the exchanger tube are located outside the housing, wherein the exchanger tube is guided through a wall of the housing at a feed-through point in a coolant- and/or exhaust gas-tight manner. Additionally, a manufacturing method for the heat exchanger and an assembly tool which can be advantageously used in the method are disclosed.
