The present invention relates to a rotary device (1) for transferring and indexing metal objects (O) comprising a weld having a first rotational-drive means (5) mounted on a rotation shaft (2), and means (8) of indexing said metal objects which are secured to said first rotational-drive means (5), and means (5) of detecting the position of one said weld on said metal objects. According to the invention, said metal object indexing means (8) are free to rotate about an axis (9) secured to said first rotational-drive means (5) and collaborating with second rotational-drive means (26, 27) in order to make said indexing means (8) themselves rotate on themselves and sustain this rotation without contact with said indexing means at the same time as said first rotational-drive means rotates about said shaft.
