The method involves specifying a relationship between speed of a rotor (10) and speed of a rotating device such as coupling (22), shaft (24) and output shaft (20) of a wind energy plant (11). Rotational speed measured values are acquired for determining the rotating device speed. The measured values are temporarily corrected with a variable correction value, so that a determined rotating device speed is obtained. The determined rotating device speed is fed as an actual value into a regulating unit (36) of the wind energy plant.
