PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inhibitor against the constriction of vascular smooth muscle, having excellent activities for inhibiting the constriction of the vascular smooth muscle, safe and capable of being administered for a long period, and useful as a vasodilator, an antihypertensive agent or the like by including a methanol extract of Myristica fragrans as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This inhibitor against the constriction of vascular smooth muscle contains a methanol extract of Myristica fragrans, preferably in an amount of 0.001-30 wt.% as an active ingredient. The extract is obtained, for example, by dipping seeds of the Myristica fragrans in a treating liquid such as cream of lime, drying the dipped seeds of the Myristica fragrans, finely pulverizing the dried seeds of the Myristica fragrans to form a powdery material, adding 10-20 L methanol to 1 kg pulverized powdery material and extracting the powdery material at a room temperature or at 30-70 deg.C. The medicine can be formed into various dosage forms such as a tablet and a capsule, or also can be formed into a form of a food. |
