<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an amount of information while maintaining a mark area in regard to a two-dimensional code reading method, a two-dimensional code reading system and an article attached with a two-dimensional code used in the method and system for reading the two-dimensional code wherein bar code information is arranged two-dimensionally and it is attached to the article. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of two-dimensional codes are represented by a single composite two-dimensional code by density gradation corresponding to a position of each character minimum unit. An image of the composite two-dimensional code is picked up, taken in and expanded on a memory. Density per each character minimum unit is analyzed after predetermined adjustment. A binary pattern corresponding to the density is acquired by reference to a density pattern table, and the composite two-dimensional code is separated into each original two-dimensional code.
