<p>The beacon (10) has a detection and control unit (18) connected to a switch (20) and controlling delivery of signals from a transmitter (16) to an aerial (13) exterior to a case (11) or integrated aerial (19) i.e. slot aerial, based on a state of an electromagnetic power sensitive unit (21). The unit (18) is programmed to examine the state at regular time intervals after detection of an incident e.g. shock. The unit (21) measures a standing-wave or voltage standing-wave ratio in a transmission line connecting an output of the switch to a connector (12) that connects the beacon to the aerial.</p> |
