The powder is extruded under pressure through a matrix aperture and converted to a profile. The metal or metal alloy powder is a reactive material whose outer surface spontaneously forms a natural, protective oxide layer. The powder further incorporates fibrous particles that absorb microwaves. The powder is heated to extrusion temperature by exposure to microwave energy.
