The present invention relates to a linkage assembly for obtaining a mechanical advantage having a first lever (30) and a second lever(34) each having respective first ends (31, 35 and second ends (41, 43). The first and second levers (30, 34) are connected by mechanical connection. The mechanical connection is made of the second end (41) of the first lever (30) as being a pin (42) that is slidable disposed within a slot (40) formed on the second end (43) of the second lever (34). In order to prevent build up of debris between the slot (40) and the pin (42) another embodiment of the present invention incorporates the use of anti-contamination members. Another embodiment of the invention involves placing a guard (48) on the pin (42) in order to prevent the build up of debris between the pin (42) and slot (40). The guard (42) includes edges (50, 52) that will scrap debris off the slot (40) as the pin (42) slides along the slot (40).
