A hair cosmetic composition is provided to allow the shape of hair to be maintained semipermanently with the damage of hair. A hair cosmetic composition comprises 0.001-20.00 wt% of at least one inorganic reducing material selected from a sulfite, a bisulfite, a sulfate and a bisulfate, and has a pH of 4.5-7.5. Preferably the inorganic reducing material is at least one selected from ammonium sulfite, ammonium bisulfite, ammonium sulfate, ammonium bisulfate, sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite, sodium sulfate and sodium bisulfate.
