An anti-theft system for a fuel dispenser comprising a pre-paid card containing an amount of money and a petrol pump having a card reader, wherein when a user inserts the card into the card reader, the pump will display the amount of money on the card, and will only dispense fuel up to the value of money on the card. The anti-theft meter is located on or inside the petrol pump and communicates with a shut-off valve in order permit the dispensing of fuel or to cease dispensing should the amount of money on the pre-paid card be spent. |
