A fuel filter diagnostic unit and method of the vehicles is provided to the diagnosis result with accuracy and stability by installing a controller determining the driving condition and diagnoses the fuel filter of the vehicles. A fuel filter diagnostic unit of the vehicles comprises a temperature of fuel detection unit(101) detecting the temperature of the fuel; a negative pressure detection unit(103) which detects the negative pressure generated in the fuel filter when supplying the fuel to : combustion chamber; a controller(105) determining the driving condition and diagnoses the fuel filter of the vehicles; a memory unit(107) storing the integration time and cumulative count including the engine warning etc.; and an warning lamp(109) indicating the exchange of the fuel filter.
