A miniature lamp holder comprises a metallic body 1 closed at its forward end by a metal plate 2, formed with an opening 4 for the reception of a screw-threaded lamp cap, and a contact member 9 attached to insulating discs 10 and 11 by distortion of the contact member, said disc 11 having U-shaped slots cut around its circumference to provide resilient ears 13. The holder is wired by passing the wire through an aperture in the rear wall of the body, through opening 4 and through the centre of contact 9, which for this purpose is initially outside the body, the bared ends of the conductor being soldered to the contact 9, forming a contact surface 8a. The contact is then pulled by the wire through the opening in the front plate when the ears 13 fold up in umbrella style. When the contact is inside the body the disc 11 again expands due to its resiliency and prevents withdrawal of the contact through the front opening. A spring 15 urges the contact into engagement with a bulb inserted in said opening. In a second embodiment the holder may be adapted to receive a bayonet lamp. |
