A washing machine employing a buffer is provided to prevent a casing of a washing machine from colliding with a top cover of the washing machine when a door closes, stop operating the washing machine when the door opens in a operation of the washing machine, and open the door of the washing machine easily using force of restitution of the buffer. A washing machine employing a buffer comprises a casing, a door, a tub, a spin basket, and a buffer. The rotary spin basket is installed inside the tub which is positioned inside the casing. The door(20) is installed in one side of the casing which is capable of accepting laundry. The buffer(60) prevents the casing from colliding with the door when the door closes. The buffer is composed of a door contact member(61) which is hollow inside and a elastic member(62) inserted into the door contact member.
