It is disclosed a system aiming at the electronic conversion of image pixels into tactile images for visually handicapped persons.Conversion is obtained by two devices: a) a digital pixels emitting camera 21 positioned at the user's forehead and b)a receiver (fig.2) converting -via a computer- the images (pixels) into tactile elements (taxels) (fig.4) so that the user is in position to perceive by touching the image previously received by the camera. Advantages: satisfactory perception of the visual environment while walking; possibility of using an infra-red rays projector 22 in the night; zooming of images (fig.7-B, fig.8-2); perception of colours by use of a suitable variety of tactile elements (35,36,37,38). |
