A novel azo compound or its salt is provided to improve the color density and to reduce the using amount of the azo compound in a curing resin composition, thereby enhancing the solvent resistance and heat resistance of the prepared parts. An azo compound is represented by the formula I, wherein A is a phenyl or naphthyl group substituted with at least one substituent selected from a carboxyl group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group and an N-substituted sulfamoyl group; R1 and R2 are independently H or a C1-C10 saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group; and R3 and R4 are independently H, a C1-C10 saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a C1-C10 saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group substituted with a C1-C8 alkoxy group, a C6-C20 aryl group, a C7-C20 aralkyl group, or a C2-C10 acyl group.
