A multi-user detector of a DS-CDMA system and a detection method thereof are provided to restore each user data in a receiver by removing the multi-user interference and error due to the same. A transmitter(10) spreads multi-user data or modulates a PN code so as to be discriminated in a DS-CDMA system, and then wirelessly transmits the modulated data. A matched filter(21) spreads the data of the transmitter or reversely spreads the PN code. A binary decision part(23) determines a plurality of samples outputted from the matched filter as 0 or 1 according to the predetermined reference output value. A genetic algorithm processor(25) performs an genetic algorithm for the multi-user detection to the output of the binary decision part.
