A method for regulating the production of biomass in a plant, an expression vector, and a plant volume growth controller are provided to inhibit the expression of the gene coding CKI1 or its analogue, thereby suppressing the volume grown of a plant. A method for regulating the production of biomass in a plant comprises the step of regulating the expression of at least one gene selected from the group consisting of the gene coding CKI1 (CYTOKININ-INDEPENDENT 1, SEQ ID NO: 2), the gene coding AHK2 (ARABIDOPSIS HISTIDINE KINASE 2, SEQ ID NO: 8), the gene coding AHK3 (ARABIDOPSIS HISTIDINE KINASE 3, SEQ ID NO: 9) and the gene coding AHK4 (WOL, CYTOKININ RESPONSE 1, SEQ ID NO: 10).
