A system for providing IPTV SMS service and a method thereof are provided to offer SMS service using IPTV network. As the program which the personalization certificate server(225) is performed on the IPTV terminal(20). The personalization certificate server receives certificate request by the IPTV communication client and generates UK(Unique Key). It is requested for authentication by the IPTV communications client who is the program communicating with the IPTV SMS system(500) and the UK is produced. A return path(Return Path) server(220) makes it possible for the interactive service by processing request from the IPTV viewer. A connection front-end server(101) sets up the IPTV communications client on the IPTV terminal and connect session and maintains. A connection distributing server(102) manages the role connected to the server having among a plurality of connection front-end servers(101.1 through 101 N) in the proper location about the specific IPTV terminal.
